Description
24 841 04 -S Head gasket kit used on the Elliott/Genmac MPSG/HSD 12 units, . This will be the Kohler 25 engine.
This is only for one cylinder, it takes 2 kits for a engine.
The kit includes a head gasket, exhaust gasket, exhaust nuts and intake gasket.
These engines were notorious for blowing head gaskets especially on the Natural gas configurations. This new head gasket solved that problem. The old head gasket didn't have a stainless steel sealing ring. The gasket would fail in the area of the push rods and as the engine ran the cylinder that was compromised would suck up oil on the intake stroke and burn it. As the oil fouled out the spark plug and the cylinder went dead, the oil would be pushed out on the exhaust stroke into the muffler,
Even though this helped it didn't fix all the problems, later Elliott provided a Z key repair kit.
This kit included a new flywheel key in the shape of a Z, you removed the flywheel and the existing key, the new key would off set the flywheel by a few degrees and in that adjustment it fixed a timing issue the engine had on natural gas.
Wasn't a bad machine then, but before these fixes a lot of these machines went to the scrap yard. Still the quietest machine out there.
